Hello and welcome to the second edition of the Heaton Stan members newsletter. This may be a shorter update than last months newsletter but we are keen to keep you updated of what is happening around the Club nonetheless!

The Heaton Stan A side have also been back in action in the Northern Alliance Division 2 and 2022 currently sees them unbeaten having notched up two draws! On 8 January they drew 0-0 against Chemfica Amateurs and on 15 January they drew 1-1 against Cullercoats Reserves. Their next two fixtures are against Willington Quay Saints (22 January) and Stobswood Welfare (29 January). They currently sit 10th in the table.
#NoHomeKit collection for Making Winter Warmer
In the build up to and on the day of the Jarrow home match we participated in a nationwide initiative from Shelter called #NoHomeKit. The campaign is to raise awareness of homelessness and we opted to raise funds and supplies for a local North East charity who help those in need – Making Winter Warmer.
We are delighted to report that we raised a staggering £615 in cash which included a bucket collection during the Jarrow game. Further contributors to the pot included Kev Carling who was extremely generous in donating his “Punt Stan” winnings of over £100 to the fund. The Club also donated all the raffle takings from that match.
In addition to the cash, our supporters and members showed their generosity by donating to purchase a wonderful 50 sleeping bags and personal care hygiene packs that the Club have procured and delivered to the Charity.
We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to this initiative in any way. It will make a huge difference to those less fortunate in our region in the coming months.
Carlisle away game travel – Sold out
As we communicated in our last newsletter, we are running a coach to Carlisle for our away fixture at the end of the month. At this time, the coach is full, but if you would like to be added to the waiting list for a space please just reply to this e-mail.
We are planning on running a coach to our fixture away to Redcar Town in mid-March. Details to be released in due course.
Football stand
If you have been to Grounsell Park in the last week, you may have noticed our new stand is now on site and installed! This takes our covered seated capacity up to 100 supporters. We are delighted with this addition to the facilities.
You can watch a time-lapsed video of the stand being delivered and winched into place on our Twitter page – see below:

We would like to send particular thanks to Wally Henderson, John Ryan and Bill Colwill for their efforts in co-ordinating and installing the stand – it could not have been done without your help!
Match Day – Bar volunteers needed
As we continue to progress on and off the field, we are attracting larger and larger crowds to our first team matches. As a result, we are looking for further support during a match day on the bar(s). The two “shifts” which we need help during on a Saturday are:
- 13:15 – 16:15
- 16:15 – 19:15
The specific duties we need help with include serving customers, collecting and washing glasses & drying glasses.
If you would like to volunteer please let us know. We appreciate that people are not always available for every match and this is absolutely fine – all help offered is always hugely appreciated and valued!
Bar opening times
A reminder that our standard opening times (in addition to home match days) are as follows:
- Wednesdays 7pm-10:30pm
- Fridays 7pm-10:30pm
- Saturdays 7pm-10:30pm
- Sundays 7pm-10:30pm
