Andy Burn is back!

Heaton Stannington are delighted to announce that Andy Burn has rejoined the club, subject to league approval.

The 25-year-old left the club in the summer to join Blyth Town after a five year spell which saw him make 223 appearances, 142 of those from the start, scoring 22 goals, including one in the 2023/24 Northern League play-off final victory over West Auckland Town.

Burnsy was one of Dean and Andy’s first signings back in 2021 and went on to establish himself as a popular figure amongst fans, securing two promotions and two St. James’ Park cup finals, and scoring notable goals including a late winner at Barnsoldwick. He becomes Andy’s first signing in his new capacity as manager.

Andy will be sponsored once again by Manchester Stan.

Upon his return to club, Burnsy said:

“I’m absolutely buzzing to be back. It was a really hard thing to move on in the summer from a club which I’ve spent nearly all my time at and enjoyed so much, so getting the opportunity to come back was a no brainer for me. I’ve been with Andy for about seven years now and I know what he’s about. We both came into Heaton at the same time and both saw where the club was going and that hasn’t changed to this day. We want to be challenging up at the top end of the table, and with the people as players and staff we have at the club now there is no reason we can’t do that.”

Asked what he is most looking forward to upon his return, Burnsy said:

“I am most looking forward to being back amongst the lads in the changing room and on the pitch – we have a great group. Secondly, seeing the fans again. The fans got me through a lot of tough periods at this club over my time here, so being able to see them again and show my appreciation. I can’t wait to see you all again and hopefully share plenty more good times on and off the pitch. Up the Stan!”

Manager Andy McBride said:

“I’m delighted to bring Burnsy back to the club. He’s somebody who knows the club and the standards within it. He will bring fresh energy on and off the pitch, as well as  loads of quality. I’m really pleased he has agreed to come back and continue his journey here.”
