Heaton Stannington Members Newsletter – May 2024

Heaton Stannington FC

Hello all and welcome once again to the monthly members newsletter.

Football Update

Well what can we say, it’s been an unbelievable season with unprecedented success on and off the pitch.

As the season drew to and it looked like we were going to make the play offs, the aim became finishing 3rd. Wins at home against Boro Rangers and away at Crook Town sealed the deal and a game against Birtley Town in the play off semi final.

1235 people made their way to Grounsell Park to witness a Joe Shepherd long range shot seal a place in the Play Off final.

I defy anyone to say they thought they’d ever see the scenes we saw at the final though as the attendance record was smashed as 2107 people witnessed history.

A 3-0 win against West Auckland saw us promoted to the Northern Premier League at Step 4 for the first time in our history.

And we’re all looking forward to that aren’t we, there will be some epic days out on the coach that’s for sure.

And talking of coach trips the coach to Carlisle for our pre season friendly is selling well. You can book your seat here.

The full list of friendlies is below.

Not to be out done Heaton Stannington A having lost penalties in their cup final achieved revenue on Hazelrigg Victory by beating them to the league title and promotion to the Northern Alliance 1st Division.

Juniors Update

Mini Soccer

We could not be prouder of how all of these teams have performed throughout this first season, each showing growth and lots of smiles. Not to mention those that we have seen be mascots for the Senior team and those that have been regular attendants at games.

They have represented the club and their coaches with pride and been a credit to the club.

Special mention to the U9 Blacks who won our first Easter Cup, an internal competition designed to give something back to the Community. As you can see from this photo…

Older Teams

There has been much success on the pitch for our older teams

U14 Girls have won the league

U14 Mixed have done the league and cup double

U17 Blacks lost in a cup final but we’re joint winners of the league.

Bar Refit

As you will know we have been completing a refit of the clubhouse bar throughout May.

This has now been completed and the grand reopening was held on Friday.

I think you will all agree it’s been an incredible transformation.

That’s all for this month, hopefully see you in the clubhouse one night.
