After the success of last years bottle draw, we have embarked on the 2023 version.
The sheets are on the bar door and the money bucket on the counter for those who wish to participate .
As always we rely heavily on members generosity, if anyone has a bottle to donate it will be made most welcome. Please see Dave Scott regarding this.
This is a non profit making draw, all money taken will be spent on bottles to be won on the night.
Hello all and welcome to the latest members newsletter. We’ve a mix of news for you this month but let’s get the football out the way first.
First Team Update
Well lets be honest, thanks to the ridiculous amount of rain we’ve been getting, we’re a little light on news this month, but we have welcomed two new players.
Nathan Greenwood who caused us nightmares when playing for Whickham last season has made the sensible decision to join us and we’ve also brought in cover for Lewis Brass in the shape of Matty Bateman who joins on duel reg from Hebburn Town.
Incredibly we’ve only managed to play 1 game since the last newsletter which saw a very healthy Stan Army contingent make the trip to West Yorkshire and the village of Emley for our FA Vase game.
Whilst we came off second best it was another great day out on the road, despite nearly leaving Joe and his daughter at Scotch Corner and unexpectedly transferring 4 to the players coach after the supporters driver took off without them.
Rest assured no one drank Peter Austin’s Jack Daniels which was still on the supporters coach.
If you haven’t travelled with us to an away game you really should, they’re great fun and there is an opportunity to next Saturday more details further down.
Weather permitting we have some great matches coming up, please come along and support the lads if you can.
25th November – Penrith. Away
1st December – Whitley Bay. Home
6th December – Crook Town. Home
9th December – Boro Rangers. Home
16th December – Tow Law Town. Away
Away Travel
As you will have noticed from the fixtures, next Saturday we travel to Penrith in the league and we have put a coach on.
Why not join us and sit back and relax, maybe even crack the cans open.
Seats are selling fast so best not to hang around get yours here.
Heaton Stan A
As with the 1st team the A team haven’t had too many games to play.
Sadly after a phenomenal start to the season the lads winnjng streak came to an end at Coach Lane when Whitley Bay Sporting Club took the points by the odd goal in five.
A week later they travelled to Rothbury for a delayed cup game and sadly lost out on penalties.
Juniors
Not many games gone ahead for the Juniors.
We are always looking to expand so if anyone is interested in coaching or knows anyone that is thinking about it they can email us to find out more.

Christmas Toy App
This year we are supporting Building Futures East with their Christmas Toy appeal.
If you are able to donate a new kids toy and help ensure no child goes without a Christmas present this year you can leave toys at the Clubhouse on the stage.
Saturday Opening
The bar rota for December is in the process of being pulled together but the club WILL be open this coming Saturday the 25th November and on the 9th December.
When and if we have any further conformation of the club being open on a Saturday night we will let you know.
We will of course let you know beforehand where the club will definitely be closed on a Saturday night but hope to have a solution in place soon.
That’s all for this month,
Evening all and here starts another members newsletter. We hope it finds you all well.
First Team Update
Since the last update a lot has happened for the first team.
After showing Hebburn how to play football we went to Tadcaster in the next round of the FA Cup we had a great day and not even Tadcaster’s tactics could ruin the day, though 2-1 defeat smarted a little.
Anyway…
A week later saw us making the trip to West Auckland (Peter Austin via Bishop Auckland) were a the ever healthy travelling support saw an excellent shift from the lads bring all 3 points back to Tyneside.
There then followed 3 games on the run when we scored 5 goals, 2 in the league which sandwiched a memorable 5-1 victory in the FA Vase against Thackley.
Next up was what will be one of the most memorable games of the season when we beat the highly fancied Bishop Auckland at home.
After draws at home to Newcastle Benfield and away to Boro Rangers and a win at bogey team West Allotment in the league out unbeaten run was finally ended away at Benfield in the Senior Cup.
Thanks to the frankly bloody awful weather we bounced right back with another memorable Grounsell Park night under the lights when we beat Darwen in the FA Vase 3-0.
Here are the upcoming fixtures, please do come along and give the lads your support.
04/11 Crook Town at home. League
11/11 Emley away. FA Vase
15/11 North Shields away. League
18/11 Guisborough at home. League
25/11 Penrith away. League
Away Travel
To try and help as many supporters as possible to be there, we are running discounted coach travel to our fixture at Emley in the FA Vase on the 11th November. Seats cost just £15 and the first coach is already sold out.
We’d love as many people be there as possible to give the lads support and these are always great days out so book your seat on the club shop or speak to Scott or James if you see them at the club or Gary on the turnstile if Saturdays match goes ahead.

Saturday Bar Opening
As you will have noticed it has proved a struggle recently finding a volunteer to open the bar on Saturday nights. We are working on this and will provide a further update once in a position to.
Where we are unable to find a volunteer in the meantime we will advise the day before, so if you don’t hear otherwise, the club will be open and please do come down for a drink.
Saturdays have become the quietest night that the bar is open, so once we have a solution to having the bar open regularly we will be looking at initiatives to try to increase attendance on Saturday nights.
Keep your eyes peeled for this but in the meantime we will sign off. Now get those coach seats to Emley booked.

Welcome once again to the members newsletter, I hope it finds you in good health.
Incredibly we’re most of the way through the summer already, I think the reason that sounds so surprising is because we’re still waiting for the summer to start. It’s had a slower start than Scott Lyndon’s exercise regime. We’re assured it will be here soon though, the nice weather I mean not Scott’s couch to 5k.
Race Night
As you will have read in the 29th September we will be holding a Race Night in the clubhouse.
Tickets are selling really well so if you are planning on coming please book early to avoid disappointment.

First Team Update
The first team have made a solid start to the season so far, after a disappointing opening day defeat at home to Whickham we’re now 4 without defeat in league and cup competitions.
A comfortable 5-0 home win in the FA Cup against Tow Law was quickly followed up with the first league win of the season against Tow Law, who must be sick of the sight of Grounsell Park by now.
Next up were Carlisle City who took us to the wire and an equaliser in the 81st minute rescued a point. Though in reality and for my money we did more than enough to win that game, short of putting the ball in the net enough. A key componant I guess.
Tuesday night saw us recreating one of the best away days of last season as we made the long trip down to Redcar Athletic. A solid performance saw us bring the points home up the A19 after a 2-1 win.
Then came a night well remember for a long time as the Stan Army travelled in numbers over to Northern Premier League side Hebburn in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup. Another sold performance from the lads saw us heading home and into the next round after beating the South Tynesiders by 2 goals with no reply.
We travel to Tadcaster in the next round on Saturday 2nd September and will be running a coach which is well on the way to selling out.
We’d love to see as many supporters there as possible to cheer the lads on so if you’d like to join us you can book your seat here.
The other upcoming games to look forward to are….
Sat 9th Sept away at West Auckland Town 15:00 League
Fri 15th Sept v Seaham Red Star 19:30 League
Sat 23th Sept v Ilkley Town 15:00 FA Vase
Wed 27th Sept away v Northallerton 19:30 League
Sat 30th Sept vBishop Auckland 15:00 League
Heaton Stan A
Heaton Stan A sit at the top of the league and made it six wins out of six with a hard fought 5-2 win at FC United of Newcastle on Wednesday evening.
Following a strong finish to their preseason, their season got off to a flyer as they raced into a 6-0 half time lead at Newcastle City, with the game finishing 8-1.
Next up came a tricky looking game at Walker Central where the lads came back from being undeservedly 2-0 down just after half time to secure a 5-2 victory, with James Harper netting four.
The following Saturday saw us make the short trip across to Cullercoats for a grudge match that saw us emerge from it with a thumping 6-0 win.
That was followed a first home game of the season as well as probably their best performance of the season so far as they won 7-2 in what is effectively a derby.
A comfortable but disjointed 7-4 victory over Great Park FC in the league cup was then followed up last night by a gritty 5-2 victory at FC United.
38 goals in 6 games sees them as the only team left with a 100% record in their division, as well as safely into the next round of the league cup.
Upcoming fixtures
Blyth Town U23s (A) – 26/8
Hazelrigg (A) – 2/9

We will have teams playing at Central Venues (up to Age 11) and then others playing home games at Paddy Freemans. Football Update
Since the last newsletter we have completed a very successful pre-season, with the first team winning all their games.
They ranged from the high scoring including retaining the Jimmy Rowe cup with a comfortable win again Benfield, to closer but not less satisfying victories against Droylsden and Birtley Town.
At the Birtley game we welcomed the family of out much missed former gateman and volunteer Gordon Wilson for the dedication of the turnstile hut in Gordon’s name.
Yesterday saw the start of the new season and our second in the first division. We opened our account against our Whickham in front of another fantastic crowd of 455.
Whilst we didnt get the victory we wanted, I dare say I won’t be the only one who felt a bit hard done by.
Next Saturday sees the start of our FA Cup campaign for 2023-24, when we welcome Tow Law Town, it would be great to see as many of you there as possible to cheer the lads on.
Here for your benefit are some more upcoming league fixtures.
Wednesday 9th August – Tow Law Town (H)
Saturday 12th August – Carlisle City (H)
Tuesday 15th August – Redcar Athletic (A)
Saturday 19th August Northallerton Town (A)
After this we welcome Thackley to Grounsell Park in the FA Vase on Saturday 26th August.
