Hello everyone, welcome to this months newsletter, we hope it finds you in good fettle. You may notice that this is only the first part of this month’s newsletter and the reason for that is that we will later in the month cover the outcome of the EGM we have needed to call and also release information about this years AGM.
EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
As mentioned above following legal and accountancy advise we have felt the need to call an EGM to explain the future direction the club needs to take, to set out details of a restructuring of the Club and seek agreement to proceed with the proposals.
This is important to the future of the club so we do encourage you to attend if you can. It will be held at 19:00 on Monday the 11th of July and our legal adviser will be there to help explain what it means for the club and to answer any questions we have.
Football Update
You’ll hopefully have seen that on Saturday the 1st team won their first trophy of the season with a good 2-0 win over our near neighbours Newcastle Benfield. This means we retain the Jimmy Rowe Memorial Cup for another year.
It was a good run out for the lads and the team seems to be gelling well with the new players Dean has brought in fitting in nicely. It was encouraging to get a good result against 1st Division opposition ahead of our debut season at that level too.
On Saturday we face Newcastle University away and it would be great to see a good Stan presence there as it’s being held around the corner at Longbenton Sports Ground, 15:00 kick off.
Following that we face Wearside and Alliance competition when we take Durham Corinthians on at home on the 13th 19:30 kick off followed by Wallington away on the 16th 15:00 kick off and we then pay a visit to our friends Percy Main on the 20th where we look to retain the Gary Hull Memorial Cup, 19:00 kick off.
The final pre-season game is at home on the 22nd, 15:00 kick off when we play Alnwick Town.
Seven days later the season proper kicks off when West Auckland Town arrive at Grounsell Park for our first ever 1st Division game. This is a change from the original date and has been brought forward to the Friday night. We’re expecting a big gate for this one so if anyone can give a helping hand to the match day team it would be appreciated. Contact any of the committee to let them know where you might be able to help.
The seasons fixtures have all been released now and I’m sure everyone is salivating at some of the clubs that will be visiting us this season and there’s some belting away days this season too so it would be great to see our away following continuing to grow.
That said 4 of our first 5 games are at home but are closely followed by two of the best away days in the league when we go to Tow Law and Crook (swoon) in the same week. I’ve not tasted them myself but the Black and Amber burgers at Crook are worth the trip alone apparently.
Come and join us on the road this season, if you haven’t been away with us before it’s a great day out.
The A team have so far played 1 friendly against the 1st team, which the 1st team won 4-0. They have more friendlies coming up so if you can come along Russ and the lads always appreciate the support. The dates are below.
9th July – Whitley bay SC at Home
16th July – Cabrito, away 2oth July – Benton at Home
30th July – Hazelrigg Victory, away.
Volunteers
The club has grown beyond what we could have dreamt of over the last couple of years and the very hard working match day team as well as non match day team are always welcome of a helping hand. Maybe you can collect glasses for an hour or so, or you wouldn’t mind helping with washing and drying glasses.
From time to time we have a spike in sales in the club online shop and need a hand delivering locally. If you’d like to get involved, again let any of the committee know, extra hands are always very welcome.
Club Merchandise
We’ve done a restock of the club shop in time for the season with polo shirts in black and white and well as some rather stylish t-shirts in black and white in now. We’ve also restocked the play off final winning celebration mugs which sold out in a matter of hours too.
We’re waiting on the bucket hats but they will be in stock soon, hopefully within the next week or so.
We’ll not be able to do deliveries till the weekend but if you want to bag yourself any of the stylish Stanwear or a mug they can be found Here
On that note I shall sign off, hopefully i’ll see you at the EGM and we’ll be back with more updates later in the month.
