STAN
Skill. Teamwork. Attitude. Nurture
In 2023, we launched our junior section, adding to our three senior teams that participate in amateur to semi-professional football within The Northern League at our esteemed Willow Park.
Our senior teams have an impressive history, featuring notable league victories, trophy pursuits, and cup triumphs that now serve to motivate the upcoming generation of players.
Heaton Stannington was officially founded in 1910, although its roots trace back to 1903 when the team played at Miller’s Lane, which is now the site of Fossway. The club’s name reflects its connection to the Stannington Avenue area of Heaton, and we take great pride in our strong Geordie heritage.
The juniors made their debut in grassroots football with five teams, which expanded to fifteen within a season. Now as we enter our third season, we coach over 340 players.
As our reputation has flourished across all age groups from U7 to U17, we are recognised for the professional demeanour, attitude, and behaviour of our players and coaches.
This achievement can be credited to the coaching syllabus that adheres to academy standards, which all coaches implement. Our goal is to offer players of all ages and skill levels the chance to express themselves on the field. We are committed to guiding young players to embrace their uniqueness while honing their natural abilities, with a strong focus on teamwork, respect, and proper conduct.

Our Girls section is witnessing significant investment success following the appointment of Craig Swinhoe as the Women’s and Girls Football Lead.
Craig mentions,
“We are looking to further expand the section, having already taken on two new girls’ teams as we move into the new 2025/26 season.”
This initiative will offer everyone the opportunity to progress from the U7 all the way to our Senior Ladies team, which will be formed in the near future.
Women’s and girls’ football at the Stan is undoubtedly an exciting place to be.
